Yoga Styles
Hatha
Hatha yoga is a wonderful practice for slowing things down, connecting with your breath and building a strong foundation in your yoga practice. It traditionally focuses on holding poses for a little longer, giving you time to explore each posture, work on your alignment and notice how your body feels.
Although Hatha is often described as a gentler style of yoga, don’t be fooled. Holding poses and moving with intention can still provide a really rewarding physical and mental challenge! You’ll work on strength, flexibility, balance and mobility, while also creating space to relax and quieten the mind.
My Hatha classes are perfect for beginners, or anyone who simply enjoys a slower, more mindful practice. We’ll take our time moving between poses, with plenty of guidance and options so you can work at a level that feels right for you.
It’s also a great way to build confidence and a strong foundation before exploring more dynamic styles such as Vinyasa or Ashtanga, where movements are often linked together into a more continuous flow.
Most importantly, my classes are about taking some time for you, moving, breathing and leaving the mat feeling stronger, calmer and more connected.
Vinyasa
Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic and energising style of yoga where I’ll guide you through a flowing sequence of poses, linking each movement to your breath.
If you’ve become comfortable with the basic alignment of yoga poses and are ready to bring a little more movement and challenge into your practice, this style is for you. We’ll work through familiar yoga poses, flowing from one to the next with the breath, creating a practice that builds strength, flexibility, stamina and focus.
I love the freedom and energy that Vinyasa brings to a yoga practice, and my aim is to make each class feel both challenging and enjoyable. I’ll adapt the pace and intensity depending on who comes along, so you can work at a level that feels right for you.
If you haven’t tried Vinyasa before, please don’t feel intimidated! I’ll guide you through the flow and offer options along the way, allowing you to make the practice as gentle or as challenging as you need.
Come ready to move, breathe and enjoy your practice. You’ll leave feeling stronger, refreshed and energised, with hopefully a big smile too!
Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga
SUP Yoga is the practice of taking your yoga onto a paddleboard, combining traditional yoga poses with the fun and challenge of balancing on the water.
Before we begin, we’ll get comfortable with our boards, learn how to enter the water and move around safely, then have some time to practise your balance and enjoy being out on the water.
We’ll then move through a fun, accessible yoga flow, with the board adding an extra challenge to your practice. But there’s absolutely no pressure, everything is optional. You can challenge yourself, or simply relax on your board and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
I offer private SUP Yoga sessions for groups at Quayside Wake & Ski in Mytchett. It’s a great experience to enjoy with friends, for a celebration or simply to try something a little different.
